Why Fireside Holidays?
There is only one thing better than having an all encompassing hobby or interest that is to share it with other like minded people who really appreciate its value.Think of fireside and it should evoke the whole concept of what our holidays should bring. Maybe you would love to ride horses for days without seeing a road or maybe you might enjoy the freedom of a long mountainside walk through unspoilt forest. Fireside in Poland can offer you both in the company of small groups of like-minded others. You will be able to spend the days enjoying your favourite hobby or chosen activity and the nights relaying the tales and experiences whilst sitting by a warm cozy fire with existing or new found friends.
How we started
I started Fireside Holidays in 2005 following over 20 years spent in IT consultancy within the UK. Originally in buying the property I wanted a place where I could enjoy a clean peaceful environment rediscover past hobbies and find new interests. A year later having started to Ski, Horse ride and enjoy walks in the forest I started on the work to make a business out of this new lifestyle.
I had learnt two important lessons in that first year.I had found that these hobbies activities and pastimes were adding a new value to my life that I had given up on during my busy working life.
The other important influencing factor was obtained from people watching. My conclusion was that often the happiest people are the ones that have fulfilling pastimes or hobbies. A great example of this is my teenage daughter's love of riding. As she was growing up I never really understood anything more than the most basics of her hobby. I took her to the stable week after week and sometimes watched her compete in shows. It was only when Is started to sit and take time to listen to her talk about her horse that I spotted something. She has a passion in her life ,horses , her face lights up when she talks about them , her voice moves from a drone to a tune. If she finds someone who shares that interest she will be happy to talk all day and night about her favourite subject. Not only was it that I became enthused by her passion but I realised that sharing the experience was just as important than the hobby itself.
It was then that I formed the idea to create a guest house with a difference and the concept of Fireside holidays was born.
As you might expect the first visitors to the house were family. This was followed by a few groups of friends who wanted to take advantage of the low cost of skiing.Since that time we have just attracted more and more visitors based upon recommendations.
Value for money
Since then we have further developed more and more low cost holiday packages for small groups of visitors who share the same interests. These are generally organised and advertised through clubs 
including walkers, horse riders and mountain bikers although private enquiries from family or groups of friends are always welcome. The ability to reduce the cost even further has been made easier with the launch of new flight routes into Wroclaw( This has added to the low cost option into Prague previously available).
We have developed specialist package items for the different interest groups but I am very conscious that these can always be improved and need to be extended to suit all. So please let me have any special requests or thoughts for improving the offering for each existing interest group.
The Future
The aim is to expand my own horisons as I discover new interests and hobbies that this area of Poland can offer.Subject Ideas so far include crystals, Orienteering and Steam locomotives. Each week I discover something new about Poland and I am therefore sure the list can grow quite quickly.Again please let me know if you have any ideas.
